The fence of the infield must be reliable, durable, vandal-resistant, and even beautiful. There are few materials that meet all these requirements. One of them is metal. Metal fencing, perhaps the most common, and the most beautiful of them - forged fences and gates. And certainly they are both reliable and durable.
Forged or welded
Welded and forged fences and gates are made from the same material, but use different technologies. In both cases, the elasticity of the metal is used. But it is used in different ways, in different conditions and processes. In the forging process, the metal workpiece (for the fence, the rod is usually used) is heated, brought to a certain temperature, by pressing it into the desired shape. The variety of shapes is great: the heated metal becomes many times more plastic, which makes it possible to forge openwork and twisted elements out of it.
By tying a certain number of forged blanks, they are combined in sections, which are then mounted on support posts. Due to the fact that the work is carried out with a softened metal, it is possible to combine the elements of the fence into a single whole with almost no seams. Due to this, the forged fence looks very neat.
When creating welded fences, too, the elasticity of the metal is used, but in the cold state. The twig is also made of twisted and curved elements - a process called "cold forging". To obtain different shapes of the welded fence there are special devices that allow to change the shape of the blanks without heating. But, in the cold state, the plasticity of the metal is smaller, smaller and possible variations.
When creating welded fences, elements are combined by welding. This causes the presence of welds. Here in this - in less artistic value and in the presence of seams - and there is a main difference between welded and forged fences. In the rest (in functionality, durability) they are the same. What is the difference? In price and time of manufacture. Forged fences and gates require much more time to fabricate and cost more, since the process requires special skills and high skills. Welded to do faster and easier, respectively, and the price is less.
There is still an intermediate view - forged-welded fences. In them, the elements are made by forging, and in the section they are assembled and fastened together by a welding method. Such fences look no less presentable than forged ones, but are cheaper, because the manufacturing process is less labor-intensive.
Types of forged fences
It's about how, in combination with what materials do forged fences and gates. It's no secret that the metal lace is too transparent and serves only as a physical obstacle, and even if the sections are of solid height. To close the yard from the views, it is necessary to place an opaque material behind the forged weave. About what to combine a forged fence and will be discussed.
Poles for forged and welded fences
Forged or welded sections of a metal fence can be mounted on metal or brick (stone) posts. These are two types of supports that are used in most cases. If you are going to make a fence of a combined type (behind the forged section an opaque material is installed), the best option is with brick poles. The sail of the combined fence is high, and such a base will be reliable and will withstand any wind.
There is another common option - a stone foundation, in which metal pillars are built. This option for the fence can be considered optimal: it is not as heavy as with stone pillars, but, at the same time, reliable.
With metal or profiled sheet
It is often enough to find a combination of forged fence section, behind which is installed a metal painted sheet. Alternatively, a roofing profiled sheet can be used. It has a factory painting, which is designed to resist weather conditions. In this case, the forged elements are painted in black, and the color of the metal behind it is selected for the color of the roof of the house or cottage.
But the corrugate has a formed relief, which not everyone likes in combination with forging. In this case, a sheet of metal is used. But it must be carefully treated with anticorrosive compounds, covered with a primer and only after that with paint. In this case, the appearance of the metal will remain for a long time. This option is good because you can pick up any color you like: bronze, silver, some unusual shade.
The combination of a forged fence with a metal sheet gives a very reliable fence. Strength of the metal sheet is strengthened by a lattice of wrought iron rods. In addition, it turns out organically and beautifully. Openwork bindings forging on a colored background look bright and impressive.
Often, the forged fence and gates are complemented by polycarbonate. This material is not only cellular, but also leafy. The leaf is more durable and able to withstand even a stone blow, and some models are bullet-proof and used in cans. Although there is no special strength behind the weave of the fences, such material can be a rescue from vandals.
Polycarbonate can be painted in different colors. Most often used matte white or with a light touch, and still popular brown and bronze. Even painted in mass, they are translucent. For such a fence, movement is guessed, and details and details can not be considered.
Polycarbonate of any type is easily cut, so it can be used to decorate only some parts of the fence, for example, you can make colored inserts.
Wood itself is decorative, and strong enough to create fencing. Wooden fences and gates - a large group, but in combination with forged elements it turns out even more beautiful.
There are two variants of forged or welded fences with wood. The first is a forged metal frame with sparsely arranged metal elements. Fill this frame tightly located boards. It is difficult to say which of the main materials. If we take the quantity of wood, but the metal is made of a frame, which unites all, although the metal part itself can not be a fence: too rare a weave. Sometimes it's just a frame around the perimeter and patterns from the top / bottom. Interestingly, by the way, fences are obtained. Many are like fairy-tale - they will perfectly match with the wooden house.
The second type is a section of a full-fledged forged fence, on the back side (from the side of the yard) covered with boards. In rare cases, the boards are inserted into the metal frames. The main difference is that the metal frame can be a fence and without boards, they are just an addition.
Schemes and sketches for welded and forged fences and fences
Own home makes you acquire knowledge in various fields - even if you do not do everything yourself, controlling the work of hired workers is very desirable. Then the result is guaranteed to be not less than average. A style, design and other individual things, generally have to choose most, otherwise the designers will do what they think fashionable or beautiful.
For inspiration we have collected a number of sketches and schemes forged fences. Some of them are simpler, some are very individual. For the first, performers are easy to find, but if you want to order a fence from those that are "more difficult", you will have to look. And it is better to see a couple of samples with your own eyes.
Photo of beautiful and unusual forged fences
It's not for nothing that sculptures are made of metal. The material is very plastic, durable, allowing you to embody any fantasy and ideas. Looking at the photo of some forged fences and gates, you often think: is it just a fence, or an object of artistic value?
